You are right with the socks on. They are only open for the picture. The is normaly a cover on it.

Like they use on formular cars. The add. pic.showes it on the car of the "old" solex carb owner .

As said by others: Nice work Andreas! I'm really enjoying your progress and craftsmanship. I've got a late series 1 Sport 1,3 (chassis #818.332.2183) thus steel panels with alu doors and bonnet. It is quite sound at the moment. Given the underlaying construction however, which in effect is a huge corrosion trap, I,ll expect to do a simillar project like you in about 10 years.

Just for curiousity: What material is used for your hatchback door and your spare wheel door? It's wide spread "believed" that for series 1 and 1,5 all moving parts are made of alluminium. I've never seen both back doors in aluminium though, not even on aluminium cars. Also the part table doesn't state different matrials used.

I have 3 Zagato's with spare wheel doors, one car all peraluman, but the door is old rusty iron.
So I have reason to believe that the back doors were never in Aluminium.

Hi Andreas,

Any progress from last "report" or was it too cold to work on your zagato?
I'm really enjoying your updates.

Cheers,

Charles
