S2 Gearbox Woes...

Hi Everyone, I'm busy restoring a S2 Fulvia that hasn't been on the road for +- 15 years. Original issue was a engine knock and the engine has since been rebuilt and subframe completely restored. The history I have on the car is that it was running very well up until the engine issue and gearbox was...

Re: Fulvia 1.3 Engine Head Gasket Installation

Hi Huib,

I assumed that would be the case with the modern head gasket. Thanks as always for your valuable feedback.

Best regards
Jacque.

Fulvia 1.3 Engine Head Gasket Installation

Hi Everyone, I'm requesting some guidance with regards to installing a new head gasket on a 1.3 Fulvia. The new head gasket is a Spesso 20607/5812. Both the head and block surfaces have been skimmed. The Fulvia workshop manual states the new gasket "should be moistened with oil and then placed ...

Fulvia S2 Girling Brake - Split Pin Question

Hi All, can someone please confirm the dimensions of the front S2 Girling split pins that keep the brake pad in place? Struggling to find the dimensions online and the ones that came off my one seemed a bit short in length and have been well used. I'm based in South Africa and its not just a matter ...

Re: Valves and guides with/ without valve stem seals

Hi Lancia 7550, your post couldn't have come at a better time as I had exactly the same question. Just out of curiosity what make are the valve stem seals you received with your engine gasket set? I have sabo-03044 seals that came with my set but based on Huib's feedback I might also consider changi...

Re: Late Series 2 Upper Wishbone Fitment Question

Thanks Huib,

final questions:

- in terms of washers and shims, both upper wishbones use the same number and sizes?
- for the right wide wishbone inner ear distance being wider in my case:
- should I bend the ear in a bit?
- tighten it more so it pulls in closer together?

Thanks and regards

Re: Late Series 2 Upper Wishbone Fitment Question

Hi Huib, thanks so much for this detailed and invaluable information, it is much appreciated. I have shims and washers in the correct sizes. Upon checking the inside ears of the wishbones, the left side wishbone measures 269mm but the right side measures 274mm. Not sure what happened to cause this. ...

Re: Late Series 2 Upper Wishbone Fitment Question

I'm not familiar with shims hence asking if they were plastic - these are obviously steel. The shims / washers that was between the silent block and wishbone are 2mm thick so I assume these are correct.
