I don't know from which German site..
Re: 2011(tu)
That'd be an ugly turn of events, in every possible sense.

Happy New Year to all; the imminent remake of Lancia into an american luxo-barge sub-brand makes my heart sink...
Re: 2011(tu)
The 'foto-shop' is from someone on the german part of Viva-Lancia (web.uno / Martin).
It's just "ein Spielerei" from him. Not at all something 'official' or 'spy-pictures'.

Re: 2011(tu)
there will soon be sackcloth tearing and ashes in our crying eyes
There will be howling Lancisti in Italia... but maybe Chryslerizing Lancia will 'save the name' so the Lanc disappears completely not !
Lets face it, Lanc has not done so 'car-wise' well since the lovely Lybra. I remember my SW fondly, even with a 'too-weak' D' engine (a more powerful D was available, at higher price). Where is the SW or Berlina replacement ?
Maybe it really is really "time for something really new".
As often as I travel in Ital these days, I hardly see Lanc....in the days of the pretty Y & Thema it seemed every 2d car is saw was a Lanc. I never see a Kappa, anywhere, anymore. I liked, I owned a K SW...which I should have kept..... but I needed a Van. The Kappa was never replaced ?
furthermore.........
I recently read that the N.A. Fiat 500 is to be built in Mex along side the N.A. destined Lanc 4door'ers, with those Lanc perhaps arriving in Euro on the same 'arriving from Mex boat' as VW Beetle.
IMHO no one in the USA has any idea what a Lanc is, nor cares. (ok ok, there are still a few dozen Lancisti-of-old !!) , In N. Am no one cares these days about Lanc history &/or reputation* ... *which isn't actually so bad ...
moving right along....
small Fiats are built in Pol & Turk, but not in Ital; Ital's buy them anyway.
VW built the lovely little Lupo in Spain (Polo too?). Euro-consumers bought them, although they were not 'German'.
Lupo sold well, proving that the brand-name VW is no longer automatically associated with Germany. Unfortunately the Lupo was replaced by the horrible built-in-Brasil ugly & expensive Fox. Did anyone ever buy a Fox in Euro? ...if not, it shows "you can't fool the consumer everytime !! Lets see what happens w/ LanChry Models ? ! ? !
whatsmore....
N.Americano buy Golf & Bora "Made in Mex" as well as new Beetle....at a lower price than if these models were imported from Euro.
Various Benz's & BMW's built & sold in USA are now sold in Euro.......amazing but true.... The initially poor quality of build has improved over time !
Jap/Kor cars sold in Euro are USA built & Euro's buy them, perhaps thinking they are buying a built in-Orient-car. Many Jap cars are now built in Euro; Kor Cars as well....are these cars "real Euro Cars" ?
Pors built Boxster-Cars in Finland (or was it Sweden?); perhaps they still do ? Some time ago I read that Boxster
production was moving to be built by Steyr. In any case I didn't hear weeping about Pors not built in Zuf'hausen.........
Mercedes 'Smarts' are built in Alsasce...or not ?
Recent Saab Models are (mostly) rebadged Opel Models & (a few) are still being built; don't ask me why nor to whom.
They are still badged as being Saab.
I am sure there are many more misbadged-cars being built in many 'wrong' counties these days; as there certainly were in the past. People still buy them.
Itsa mixed-up muddled-up trucked-up world except for my Lola la la la ...referring to the Lola song, not UK built Race-Car
A Fulvia Xfire certainly will not happen; unless mucho € is invested in the Karmann factory, where the Xfire was built, in tiny #'s. Chry/Merc paid K'mann a fine for each Xfire which K'mann did not get to build according to the agreed upon contract, since - it seems- no one was buying warmed over ex-Benz Xfires. I believe that the K'man factory building a few Xfire has recently been closed. forever ?
Xfire was not fwd; which I pray any car, built anywhere, named Fulvia would have to be, Anyway, a Fulvia built in DE ??? ..............now, that won't fly................please please

Dear John,
Happy New Year!
the issue with Chrysler/Lancia is not that a Lancia might eventually be built in Canada, mexico or the US, the issue is that these Lancias coming to us over the pond are simply rebadged Chryslers. That's what is at issue. Platform sharing is something entirely different and inevitable in today's world and ultimately acceptable also to 'purists'...
An Audi A3 might be the same as a Golf but no one can see it really...the new 'Thema' will be a simple rebadging of a 300C...not good enough.
