oops

Unread post by fulvia a.i. »

ooops means that - after not writing a word of this message herein, I decided to move this message to the "Rramble" Category; since, who knows where it may go to / end up :P; but it is about (indirectly) Fulvia; to be specific, about my Fulvia, sort of.

A report to those who've inquired about my Z.

Well, I finally did it....I rolled # 2675 out of warehouse, for photos. Why should I start it when I'm not going to drive anywhere ?

In court-yard wind blew off saw-dust that the wind blows down from rafters inside warehouse; which was once a carpentry-shop. For a Z not washed since 09, it still looked quite clean & shiny for a 'Z' - parked outside on a non-sunny - very-windy day.

My office phone # rang; the phone that no 1 else in office will answer, so I went in to answer it. It was 20th caller thís week who'd dialed the same wrong # but reached my # ! I was pleasant %?$#^µ when telling the caller that my prefix isn't 277; it is 227. "VW Hoffman" prefix is 277; we share same rest of same tel # :)
I wonder how many times per week VW Hoffman, located 1 town away tells callers "please dial 227 or you will end up here again & never reach John"?

I went outside, meeting a walk-in client who said "if you leave warehouse door opened & your Z in with key in it; some1 is going to steal something someday ! He was smiling. I didn't tell him that Z's battery now lives in another Lancia & that the Z would be, therefore, hard to steal. I took care of his immediate needs, brought his payment (thank U) to 'accounting-department' & went back to Z.

Removed f&r carpets & rubber mats. I assume that carpets were optional in 72, since they seem to be totally excessive & don't accomplish anything, nor do they add to the "beauty" of an otherwise bare-cockpit, at least in a Z with thin-person sport-seats.
I attacked carpets with a large, bristled brush. I believe that I saw miniscule specs of dust blowing away; it was very windy, no dust got on me. I laid rubber mats on pallet, sponged & soapy watered them; top & under-side. Sponge remained clean, as did soapy water. I was wasting time. Wind dried mats

Phone rang; this time it was important. No 1 stole Z nor stole opened-warehouse when I was inside, looking out. Warehouse is solidly bolted to the earth !

I read emails, wrote emails, made calls, went back to Z & removed spare tire (tyre) cover-carpet, spare tire (tyre), which was flat & trunk (boot) carpet. This carpet had specs of sawdust on it; but not for long:)

Took photos of rear-end of Z 2675; wiped off plastic surfaces behind"joke rear seat"; actually spotting some real dust on the sponge. ! A Disaster !
I checked floor of boot; which I can actually not see (nor can any1 else see), since it is 'protected' by a mat of tarred bitumen; which is covered by thick fiber mats, which is covered by oily mats of what appears to be sound-deadening material. None of these mats absorb water; so I assume that floor under them is solid. It sure sounds solid when I pound the floor with my steel-fist, Boom Boom Boom ;)

Since I was in the boot anyway, I removed rubber-moulding that seals trunk/boot with rear hatch-window, when It is fully lowered. I discovered...shiny red paint under the rubber ! Yippee!! I wiped this area with sponge a

actually had a line or 2 of rubber dust on sponge. I poured soapy H²0 into 2 drainage holes in hatch canal; being careful that it didn't piss onto my shoes as it drained, which it did with no delay.

replaced now dust-free carpet in trunk/boot & decided to spend rest of my day in office, so my office-staff didn't think I was 'goofing-off' all day::o.

I was back out after 1 hour, inspecting floor from top & bottom. Sponge in hand, with new soapy water.
I wasted time wiping the floor (top side only). I can report that ...at some time in the past...drivers-side front floor-pan has been patched, quite well, but the "new steel; size of a case of beer" doesn't have 'grooves' that passenger-side floor does. The floor-inspection exposed "no-surprises".;)

It, the floor... in toto, is as solid as it was 5 yrs ago, when I bought #2675. Leading a pampered life as it does, excepting for 2x on the Benelux/France Fulvia Ralley, this doesn't surprise me.

Prior to leavin for evenin, I pushed Z in warehouse, but not in its usual corner...so I can push it out & take more photos tomorrow. To be posted soon.

I am sorry that I can not respond to each & every inquiry personally & quickly, but I will list some pertinent details in next days; like the total km since being built & driven by # 2675's 2 owners, 1 of which is me !

Good Night ;)
