Bonnet Prop Bracket

Unread post by FennLane »

Our Series 1 Coupe has this tube welded to the inner wing to support the bonnet prop (See attache photo) and we would like to replace it with the correct pressing.

Does anyone have this pressing on an old shell that they would sell?

Thanks

The car has the inner wing of the 1965 and 1966 1216cc coupes. 1967 cars and later had a different inner wing as you can see on the pic.

Originally the 1216cc coupes had the spring loaded stalk halfway the bonnet on the air filter side as the berlina's have. See pic. On all early coupe's the original bonnet has been replaced with one that has the long stalk on the engine side. I have NEVER seen a 1216 cc coupe which still had the short stalk. There must have been a very compelling reason to change. My guess is that the sort spring loaded stalk may have caused shorts to the plus terminal of the battery.

The 1216cc coupe's I have seen had no holder at all for the long stalk. Somebody improvised a holder on your car. Good job. I would honour the guy who did it and keep it.

All coupe's till the last one kept the dent in the RHS wing for the short stalk. Lancia never changed the mould for the RHS wing.
