Does the Berlina use different timing than that of other fulvia's? After changing rings on my engine we experienced these symptoms :
When the engine is at running temp it idles too high 2500rpm, idle speed screw at min.
Engine sluggish when holding the gas pedal 1/2 way down.
An 1970's lancia factory mechanic from my club cleaned and adjusted the carbs but no improvement...
I doubt if the problem lies at the carbs as the engine was running fine before replacing the rings.
Any advice?
Berlina Valve Timing??
Re: Berlina Valve Timing??
What do you mean by "rings"? Only rings I can think of are piston rings.
If you did indeed replace the piston rings it means the head has been off. If so you need to time the camshafts again.
All berlina's except the 1C have the 818.100 camshafts. Coupe's may have the 818.100 camshaft or 818.342 camshafts depending on the engine.
Best check the numbers on the camshaft to make sure nobody swapped camshafts.
The 818.100 camshafts have a lift of 1 mm at TDC, measured at the cam side of the rocker. Not at the valve side.

Re: Berlina Valve Timing??
After an engine rebuild due to a piston ring breaking, which necessitated a rebore with new rings and oversize pistons, my Berlina went ok but never really felt right, before driving her to a Lancia meet in Esphino Portugal in 2004, I put her into Omicron in the UK for a service, general check over & check the brakes, during the work they found that the engine had been reassembled with the valve timing considerably out.
This was corrected & the difference was astounding. what was even more surprising is that she ran in that condition.
