Fulvia Flying & Surviving

Unread post by jogo »

Hello Fulvia-Heads. I recently experienced & wonderful & long conversation with Erika Tschumi - Fulvia Ralley Driver - in her own words - I am pretty good & have been for longer than I wish to tell you !
Her driver - Emil Tschumi - was also a thrill to talk to & laugh with. My, didn't they have lots of photos of Fulvias in strange places - like at the bottom of a ravine - after attempting to fly - ! Which they & the Fulvia did ! In an downward curving arc. Ending suddenly, 17m lower than the take-off point. Totally uninjured ! Erika & Emil that is. The Fulvia was, to put it mildly, twisted. Many parts of that Coupe survived the fall to live on in another Fulvia, which they proudly drove to & from the " Lancia Club Vicenzo" (fun & funny group of Lancia-Heads) Spring Opener on 1April in Neustadt an der Weinstrasse, in lovely & sunny Rheinland-Pfalz,
in SW Germany. E & E, originally Swiss, now live - with 350 apple trees - on a farm in E. Alsace Region of France, 60 km away from the Swiss & German Border. I promised to visit them ; so more fun & funny stories will follow. I didn't get to drive "the planned tour" however; my car remained parked, while I rode in pure luxury in a grown-up Fulvia (Gamma 2.5 Coupe); while wondering how Wolfgang managed to make so many tight bends seem like long smooth bends. Or was it the Lancia engineering ?
