First year of Fanalone ownership

Unread post by Neil »

Following on the recent educational topics of how to post photos I thought I would have go as it is one year ago that I came back from Venice with a Fanaone in tow.

As delivered

8 months later - all my own work

12 months later - non of my own work !

In about a weeks time I will get a completed and painted bodyshell back - the signal for me to start the mechanical restoration - and a hurry up to finish painting the garage !

If anyone is interested I have been attempting to keep a record of what I have been doing :

Hello Neil, looks great, that's the way to do things....strip

I had a look at the photos, great for those that will have a go sometime.

Ask Huib to link you to the Fulvia site, amongst the others, enjoy Henk, S1 Holland

Hello Henk,
Yes I agree ! It had been repainted twice (silver to red, red to blue) and needed new sills, back panel and smaller areas replacing - also as it has been idle for so long (even though it has very low mileage) it requires a complete mechanical overhaul. The only way to do a proper job is to start at the begining - raw metal! I took the decision before I bought the car that I would try and return it to "as it left the factory" appearance so it has been repainted in the original colour. The first job when it comes back is to strip and overhaul the front and rear suspension and subframe so that I have a complete and restored rolling chassis before embarking on the drivetrain and interior.
As you correctly say one reason I have put these photos together is that although I have plenty of Fulvia experience (and restoration experience) I could find very few photos to guide and help prepare me, so I too hope others may find them useful. I will follow up yor suggestion with Huib.
