Hi...
Does anyone have any tips on getting the HF engine to run to its' correct emissions etc. The MAP sensor on mine is in good condition (no leaks), but it still runs a bit rich - although I have managed to get it down from 8% CO to 4% CO. Or am I hoping for too much?
And are the spring problems mentioned elsewhere just due to tired rubber buffers/bushes?
Many thanks...

Re: coupe 2000 HF
Dear Marcus,
Your CO is too high; the problem is almost certainly the Bosch fuel pressure regulator.
Years ago I worked for a Porsche specialist; we had a 914 (which has the same D Jetronic system) that was running 8% CO. Luckily we had another 914 in the workshop. I borrowed its regulator and immediately CO was 1.5%.
A (rather expensive) new regulator cured the problem.
Best wishes
Paul

Re: coupe 2000 HF
Thanks Paul...
Would it be at all possible to adjust the fuel pressure to compensate for rich CO (i.e. is overfuelling the problem?) - via the setting screw on the top of the unit? I know there is a fair amount of adjustability available, because I have measured the fuel pressure and set it to the correct value previously...
If you get a good idle CO this way, would that detrimentally affect the fuelling at higher revs?
Thanks again...

Re: coupe 2000 HF
Well...
It's been a long time. I do not remember the unit being adjustable - but of course you may well be right; a call to Bosch Technical may be the answer. However, the best approach is to find out the recommended pressure for your system and measure what you have before fiddling with it.
If then you cannot achieve the correct figure, then of course you would need a replacement unit.
I am almost sure that I would have turned any screw I could find!

Re: coupe 2000 HF
According to the Lancia 2000 Manual for the D jetronic system, there is a CO adjustement on the control box
The controlbox is a rectangular flat box and the adjustement should sit at the right hand end of one of the long sides of the box.
If the CO adjustement fails the manual states that you should adjust the throttle, adjust the throttle switch and re adjust the idling speed
No experience whatsoever with this unit, just translating from the German languaged injection Manual for the Lancia 2000
maybe this helps

Re: coupe 2000 HF
the adjustment screw on the electronic control unit only controls the idle mixture as soon as you drive off it has no influence, the CO should be at about 1 to 1.5 when running correctly with low HC too , I remember the last time I took mine for a British yearly test (a few years ago I haven't used it for a long time) I asked the garage to check the emmissions and they were astonished at how good they were. The vacuum sensor is a likely candidate they often seem to fail ,which is not surprising given their age, beyond this check the peration and function of all the sensors and don't forget to make sure the ignition system is all correct
Re: coupe 2000 HF
Obviously, you have checked all the basics - valve timing and clearances, ignition dwell and timing and plug gaps??
first off you need to check fuel pressure - if this is correct then don't mess with it - you will just mask the fault and cause other problems.
Next check the throttle switch adjustment - if this is wrong the idle mixture will never be correct. The switch should open when the throttle has opened approx 0.7 mm. I wouldn't advise trying to adjust the throttle itself unless you know it has been played with.
If none of that helps, I would suspect either the coolant temp sensor or the thermo-time switch.
Good luck

Re: coupe 2000 HF
Hi everybody!
has the d-jetronic on the 2000 hf any sensor/ground on the termo time switch? for the cold start i mean ?
i need to replace the thermo time switch on my 2000 hf, i need to put one inside really because my car has not at all someone get off its original thermo time away
