Remove the Flaminia cylinder heads

Unread post by Patrick »

Hello

I rebuild my Flaminia 2.5 engine at present. Can anybody tell me a way how I can remove the cylinder heads because they are completly deep seated. All nuts are removed. I think it depends on the corrosion between the aluminum of the head and the steel of the stud. What should be the next step?

You have to make a tool. It is an inverted U of thick strong steel which you install over the head. Fasten it on the inlet and exhaust ports. Make M8 holes exactly over the studs. Put M8 bolts through these holes and let them push against the studs.
The tool has to be made with extreme precision. The M8 bolts have to align exactly with the studs, dead center and zero degree angle.

Most of what you need should be available from either Omicron Engineering in the UK or Cavalitto. They both have links on this page. There is also Mike Kristick in the USA, in Pennsylvania but I would expect that to be less convenient for your time zone.
