Turning support for Flaminia body
Re: Turning support for Flaminia body
What do yo mean? I don't understand your question.
Re: Turning support for Flaminia body
Hi Jean,
what I intend to build is a support on which I can turn the body over it's length axis (like a chicken or ox on the grill) in order to facilitate sandblasting, welding etc..
I have seen once a (bad) fotograf of such a device for an Aurelia, but I can not recall where...
For any assistance many thanks

Walt Spak (in the American Lancia Club) works with Bob Williams in Pittsburgh who restores Lancias this way. You may wish to contact him. I think you can find his email on this site. If not, let me know, and I'll get you in touch.

Yes, you must have seen this in the Flaminia workshop manual. In the "body section", a picture shows an Aurelia "ready to be grilled" to remain with your terms. I guess only Lancia must have had such a device as this system must have been hugely expensive for Lancia dealers worldwide.
What you can use is this simple system that is often showed on car exhibits. It's composed of 2 large bows that are fixed on the wheel lugs. A drill is used to turn the car 90° so that the floorpan is accessible. It seems very easy to use and I don't think it's that expensive. Look on the internet to find this thing...
Good luck!

Re: Turning support for Flaminia body
Hi
When i restored my flaminia sport i got one of my sixth form design students to design a device so that i could rotate the entire body as on a spit. This worked on two 12vdc motors, driving a screw thread. This could just as easily have been done using simple hydraulic jacks. I only have ordinary photos, and my scanner is not working at the moment. If you let me have an address i will gladly post you a copy, showing the device and the car attached. (This actually attached to the number plate mounts front and rear and i blocked the door opening with timber to prevent distortion).
Hope this is of some help!
Dave
