What is general opinion on Thesis?

Unread post by Ryan »

Hi,

I just wanted to make an informal poll on what people think of the
Thesis?

In my opinion, I do not like it. I think the proportions are all off, and
it looks more like the ugly design of a Cadillac or Lincoln Town Car
than a beautiful Italian luxury sedan.

I really think that if Lancia wants to re-introduce itself into the luxury
market it has to build a car that is no less (if not more) than the class
benchmarks: Audi A6, BMW 5-series, Mercedes E-class.

The new Lancia does not look to be close to these cars in any regard,
and this is a huge shame... I'm afraid it will make the Lancia k look
like a grand success in comparison. Lets hope that the Y and Lybra
can sell enough to keep Lancia from going out of business..

What do others think?
take care,

Ryan

To me the car looks like the front end was designed totally independent from the rear, the whole thing looks unbalanced.
I am pretty sure that when I have to trade in my K two years from now it will not be replaced by a Thesis.

Heard first indications of its price today, and the price I heard was close to that of a 5 series BMW. (5% below)
If that's the case Fiat Group can forget it!

I also agree with that!!!!

It looks like Lancia is following Oldsmobile, GM has expirience in such things :-(

Take good care of your Aurelias, Fulvias, Flavias and Betas!!!! Of course the Integrales too.....

....it´s a shame indeed....

Ciao´

I do not agree!

I do not want a "me too" BMW series 5 or Audi A6, nor even worse another Mercedes E-class.

I want a spacious, distinctive, and restrained car, with italian flair.

It should have interior space, like the Thema or Kappa, a distinctive front end with a new variant of the Lancia shield, a back end you can load with luggage, and a design that lasts.

Moreover, I want a Lancia driving experience, a well balanced car (bring back the Beta Coupe ...), and nice engines (with no timing belt problems!)

Can you still remember the first negative comments when the Thema came out?

So I will just wait until I can see the Thesis in the flesh and drive it!

as with all lancias i would reckon that the complete ownership experience is more relevant than the cosmetics the trouble can be that the buyers are not tempted in the first place....however i will reserve judgement until i see one although cars of this size are not my thing. It has to be said the lybra is much nicer in the metal than in photos i hope this is the same.it pains me that lancia no longer make cars in the delta /147 size bracket i own a delta hpe hf a late version and it is a fantastic underated car partially overshadowed by the 'grale but also it seems damned by lack of promotion from its maker...other makers are only just catching up but the delta is almost unknown.it is a brilliant combination of practical hatchback spacious interior fantastic handling(so far removed from the frankly lame dedra that you woudn't believe it has the same basic chassis design)and smooth flexible GO!!........having said that still prefer my 2000HF Coupe but no manufacturer can afford to build and engineer cars so well they lose money on them even at very high prices as Lancia did in the 60s

As with most modern Lancias, the styling grows on you. I was unsure about the Ypsilon when I first saw it but have since decided it is the most beautiful small hatchback

I wasn't too sure about the kappa coupe, but I bought one after driving one and it is utterly wonderful - you get used to the looks

The second the Thesis coupe is released I will be checking it out and expect to replace the k with it

Agree with what you say. Someone from architecture was really put off by
the design, expressing that it didn't look balanced.

I'm sympathize with the Robinson fellow at having a challenging task of
pushing Lancia back to Gran Turismo / Luxury / etc.. but frankly I think
he lacks skills. Thank goodness he has been replaced as head of
Lancia design, but now what will happen to Fiat that he is moving there?

Hi Sabastien,

I'm not saying that the car should be a 5-series or A6, etc.. but it should
stand on its own, and have a design that is at the same level of quality
and sophistication. A 360 Modena is not a 911 Turbo, but the design is
just as well thought out (and much more so, in my opinion).

The Thesis looks sloppy. Not quite as sloppy as most typical American
cars.. but pretty close!

I wish the Thesis success, I want Lancia to succeed.. but maybe they
need one more kick in the a$$ to finally make them do something good.
That or die trying!

I liked the Ypsilon the first time I saw it. I agree, this is an amazing design
for a b-segment car. I've never driven the k, but have heard it is very nice.
I don't think the styling is justified for the car's chassis/engine. It looked out
of date very fast, and was a backward step from the Thema, not forward..
don't you think?

The Lybra, I didn't like it when I first saw it. I've slowly gotten use to it,
and learned to appreciate it. My biggest gripe is with the back, I couldn't
believe that Lancia would copy so much. The back is clearly from Benz..
The Japanese can copy.. but Lancia? :(

Anyway, once again.. good luck for Lancia, and Thesis!
