Oil cooler on Flavia S2
Oil cooler on Flavia S2
Hello,
Is the oil cooler somehow directly bolted to the radiator, or is there some kind of bracket between them? I'm of course talking about the upper attachment point. There are brackets in cooler and in radiator, but they are 90 degrees off each other, so I cannot imagine any sensible way to bolt them together with just one bolt, as the parts catalogue insists.
The cooler has been bought separately (one didn't come with the car), but it is supposed to be from a S2 Flavia, and it also looks like in the picture of parts catalogue.
Of course, a close picture could help a lot. -D
Regards,
-Miika

Re: Oil cooler on Flavia S2
Hi,
I am not the first owner of the car, so not fully sure that it's the genuine link between the two coolers. But however probably..
On the last picture, at bottom, the steering oïl pump.
Flavia sedan S2 MilleOtto 1968.
More pictures on request.
Hope this help.
Best regards,
Pierre

Re: Oil cooler on Flavia S2
Thank you Pierre!
That looks like a home-brew method; The bracket on the cooler seems to have been twisted to match the radiator. Unless something else comes up, I'll probably do the same.

Well... No wonder it was difficult to figure out, how to install this thing. My cooler is probably from Flavia 815. I realized it after trying to install it and yet once again checking Pierre's picture. No way it would ever fit as is:

The picture in Flavia 819 parts book is not correct. So, time to find a correct cooler, I'm open for offers.

Re: Oil cooler on Flavia S2
Ciao LanciaFin, from a quick search on internet I find the following:
http://www.kijiji.it/annunci/ricambi-au ... 90227139#4
It is claimed to fit for the "2000", I wander if can be the same for your 1800 but probabily yes; of course I reccomend to check it on the spare parts catalougue .
Just as a comment: it appears different from the one from 1st series not only for the upper bracket but also for the oil pipe connectors, inverted and in a lower position, and for the lower rubber dumpen bracket shifted from the radiator main axis .

Re: Oil cooler on Flavia S2
The oïl cooler on the net (grifo63) looks like the one of my car. (see pictures attached). Including oïl pipes.
Looking at the 819 parts book (tav 22A ) the oïl cooler is different, but this page is a "change" of 02/70. My Flavia Milleotto is 1968.

Re: Oil cooler on Flavia S2
Thank you Grifo!
With the price on the ad, I'll probably choose to modificate my existing unit. The pictures in the ad are a great help with that, to get an original look. This is not a top priority issue anyway, because I think that there will be no overheating problems during running in, especially in typical Finnish weather, if the oil hoses are simply connected together. Or, I can substitute a Fiat Uno Turbo-unit I happen have in my parts bin, until a correct [looking] unit is available.
The engine has not been started yet anyway. Maybe (hopefully) before the end of this year.
regards,
-Miika

Re: Oil cooler on Flavia S2
I've never try the Finnish winter weather but I do suppose it should be quite cool; perhaps, before to optimize the of oil radiator behaviuors, is better to check if the water thermostat will close well
I'm awating for good news of your first run!
