What is the thing in beside the spare wheel?

Unread post by Leo Capaldi »

Hello,
I was under my LS Turbo (Series 3) fitting a tow bar and noticed that there are two small plastic pipes connected to the black plastic "bowl" that is in the centre of the spare wheel space. Can aynone tell me what that is all about? It was too cold to follow the pipes.

The pipes are "FUEL PIPE" with black plastic protector.
And, there is a fuel filter in the "black plastic bowl".

Thanks Masahiro,
I guess that means that I will have to think about changing the fuel filter now...

Hi Leo!

At first a Happy New Year!

Inside that \"compartment\" is the fuel filter. You may have to replace this part every 60.000 kms.
Remove three nuts from below and you\'ll see!

Thanks Rolf,
"A guid new year" to you (as we say in Scotland).

Have not looked in the container yet, have not had time to even check the service history. I have owned the car for just over one year and enjoyed every moment.

Ciao for now, Leo

Hi Leo,
Take no notice of the service history, my first series 3 had full history with Lancia Dealership as it was a company car. When I bought it at 60,000 miles I hadthe filter changed just to be sure, we found irrespective of history it had never been changed. as it is a bit difficult to get at if the bolts turn the mechanic must have thought it was too much trouble.

Thanks Brian,
Not opened mine yet but it has a mixture of self tappers and allen headed bolts so someone has been in there at some stage.
While you are there do you know of anyone with a Thema towbar for sale?

Best regards, Leo
