Carburettor for Fulvia
Carburettor for Fulvia
I own a Fulvia Sport S 2 from 1972 Used 818,303 standard engine without problem. It is equipped with carburetor Solex C35 PHH-E2 (latest version cleared) .The car works great as this.
I had the opportunity to purchase used Solex carburetors of C35 PHH19 and a set of PHH23.
I have reviewed these carburettor (cleaning, change seals and control of sprinklers).
Test inconclusive on the car! and ditto on the 2 parts. The phenomenon is as follows: start with starter Ok, Ok idle adjustment and synchro adjustment Ok wealth but when given a gas engine suddenly choking. Test drive one little ride with a light throttle until 3000tr beyond it die! But it seems certain that the mixture is too rich when the gas is opened.
My question: why carburetion Is not good (on the 2 sets) while carbs are planned for my engine and that number of jet are correct from the technical review?
Can we suspect a fault on the two sets?
The carbs it not suitable for this motor?
Thanks for answering me.

Did you check if the pump jets work?
Take cover and flame killer off from air filter box and look into the throats of the carbs one by one.
Just in front of the butterfly valve you see a jet sticking out of the "ceiling". Flip the throttle by hand and see if those jets squirt fuel.

Thanks for your answer.
I visually compare the jets with the entry of PHH-E2 carburetors that works well and a set (PHH23) wrong.
There seem to have too much gasoline PHH23. We see a mist and fuel droplets along the tube.
On the good carb only a gasoline fog.

Is the needle valve the same? Check its size on the valve, Andrea

Hello,
I changed with a new repair kit without result...and same problem with the 2 sets tested (PHH19, PHH23).
I do not know how to control the level vessel?
a doc said level set by the thickness of the washer.
another: level 19 mm but how to measure?

Does the needle valve have the same size stamped on its side? Andrea

Hello,
Thank's for your answer.
110 on the new parts from the repared kit and 11 (a big 1 and a small 1) on the two set PHH 23 and PHH 19. I have not open the PHH E2 to chek the N° because the are monted on the car.
On the RT I can see 1.3 on many N° of PHH and some N° used 1.1 then ?

The IP address from which you are posting suggests you live in Belgium.
I am in Beda Netherlands which may not be far. I also have a friend living just south of Brussels who has experience with various carbs.
