Injector warning light

Injector warning light

Unread post by Dave P »

I often get an injector warning light .
It comes on at idle, both cold and hot . And at normal speeds when I lift off .
We've checked the injectors over and they appear to be fine . And the car runs well and effeciently .
Any ideas what could cause this warning light ?

Hi Dave,

if you own a serie 3 Thema that light indicates any kind of error within the engine control system. For example it may also indicate a broken cable or a defective sensor.

For a serie 3 Thema you can check the control system without any test equipment:

Turn the key into ignition position without starting the engine! Within 5 seconds you have to press the accelerator pedal five times fully down to the metal. Then the injector warning light will tell you what kind of error(s) had occured.

The first lighting of the lamp is a little bit longer - this is the start signal! After that the lamp blinks several times. Count the blinking - all codes have four digits, so four groups of blinking with pauses in between will occur. Note that code. After that a new start signal will come up and after that the next failure code. The system can hold up to five different codes. So wait for five start-code cycles! If you get always the same readout, there is only one failure stored.

Unfortunately the code list is too large to be posted. If you mind, you may post the codes and I´ll send you some explanation for them.

Hello Dave,
My light came on when the pressure sensor pipe came adrift. This the small plastic tube from the back of the inlet manifold/plenum chamber and goes to the pressure sensor mounted at the rear of the bay. The rubber sleeve at the end had perished and the pressure from the turbo boost blew the pipe off.
Rolf sounds like he has full control here though.

Rolf, it would be great if you post the list somewhere or e-mail it to me.

Best regards, Leo

Rolf,
Thanks for the advice . I carried out the test and it worked very well .
I have an error code of 1.2.2.3.
Can you let me know what this indicates . Or better still, let me know where I can find a list of the codes published .
Many thanks again ,
Dave .

Hi Dave!

This code is for the oxygen sensor and indicates that the sensor (Lambda-sond) is outside its normal control range. That may cause significant higher fuel consumption and worsened air pollution. You may have to replace this part.

The codes are published within the Lancia Thema shop manuals, volume 3, chapter 10, Engine - fuel supply.

Hi

that works with all Themas of the 3.rd serie with gasoline engines except the basic 2 litre, 8 valve engine.
