Direct air flow filter Tema turbo 8V 1988

Been thinking of mounting a direct air flow filter on my Thema and wonder if this would alter the engine’s character or gain/lose any HP/torque? Is there a downside towards wear and higher fuel consumption on this modification?

Any who can recommend a direct filter?

BMC makes a "CDA" filter for the Thema. I dont know if the will give you a substantial power gain but at least a better sound and look and a small power gain.
