Hi,
a lot of us have heart or even felt a hard skyhook problem. There are a lot of discussions and theories about the capacitors. For someone it helps a bit but not as much as it should. After three months labouring, measuring and two weeks soldering and trying I can finally say I've found and solved all skyhook control unit problems (and also can diagnose the sensors). The capacitors is only one of them.
For all interested I can provide the full refubrishment and next week I should have also some refubrished units for sale.
I really hope this info can help us to keep our divas in best possible conditions

Hi,
of course no problem, the control unit is solved and repairable by me. Today we were labouring on three thesises about the sensors, testing and driving after each one changed. Also measuring direct data from pins on the control unit. The result from today is katastrophic. The sensors (accelerometers) are all getting old. This is what I was worried the most. One sensor for example on the front wheel cost more than 200€ new. And even than there's a risk that it's old one from the shelve only not used. The real state of the sensor can be measured only via osciloscope and unfortunatelly I don't have any digital one and I've lost the cables from my analogue one. Only completely broken one can be found via diagnostics and it can be seen only if you know what the data should look like. Summed up, each skyhook in each thesis is not 100perc working. It's hardly explainable, only to someone who has driven any new one as I was.

That is hard, I also was wondering, how I could check if Skyhook is working properly.. And if I understand you correctly, these sensors are not repairable and need to be replaced..?

First of all you need to be sure your control unit is working correctly, mostly this is causing the problem. And I can honestly tell you that each 5-6 years old control unit is not working properly, because they are getting old and needs to be refubrished, they are not able to provide enough amperes for the shock absorbers. So even if your sensors are ok, the suspension is hard. Than sometimes happen that also the sensor is wrong. But as I said, you need to be sure your control unit is ok, I can measure it, if it's ok, but it's a waste of time, each one is not 100perc functioning. After this you can check the sensors and you are correct. I've opened it the capacitive accelerometer is not changeable, because it's extremely small and it on one board with all other components which are smaller than smds. The sensor doesn't provide directly capacitance to the control unit. There's a chip that generates PWM signal. So you are not able to measure anything with your multimeter.

Todays summary. Most sensors can be used also from VW, opel, volvo etc. but cost simply the same as for lancia. But it seems I would be able to refubrish the sensors to the new one state. Will keep you informed

Oh and one more news. The problem for the sensors is mostly the heat. The result is that the maximum heat range loweres down and the sensor can work properly only in low temperatures. That's why sometimes in the winter when cold car was started outside, it seems the suspension works better at the beginning.
