Distributor question Flaminia Touring 3C

Messaggio da leggere da Flami »

Hello,

I have doubts if the two automatic advance springs of my 3C Distributor are really the correct items. The springs have not the same shape. I have attached a photo from the Distributor cam assembly. Please let me know your thoughts. Thank you for any help.

Best regards

You are right. There are 2 springs of different elasticity. The more "tender" acts al low rpm, the more "hard" at higher rpm. Therefore the ignition advance increases with the rpm but at a certain point at a lower pace until it stop at his maximum.
That is well shown in the Flaminia Shop Manual AST Sketch 460C.
Regards.
