I want a Thema again

Unread post by Jesus Echevarria »

I used to own two Themas some time ago, an 8v ieLX and a 16V Turbo LX (mk2).
I'd love to buy another one but there are few around. Ideally it would be a late as posssible K reg or so 16V LS Turbo, but I'd certainly settle for a non-turbo as long as it has the air-con. Anyone out there have one? I really miss my old ones.

Hello,

unfortunately I have no Thema to suggest,
but I want to ask you about your expierience about the Thema engines.
Which one would you prefer and why ?

I think the Turbo16V is a very soft and quiet engine with a lot of power,
but not very reliable.
In my opinion a 16V Serie2 or 3 (non turbo) is a good choice to combine reliability,
economic consumption and power.

Anybody something good or bad to say about older Turbo ?
(Serie1, 8V)

I liked the 8v engine the best. It had good performance coupled with reasonable fuel economy. It even carried on when the counter-balancing belt snapped, damiging the gear teeth - for 8 months I did not notice, and as the engine still worked I did not bother to replace it as it would have needed new shafts.
The 16v Turbo was impressive in performance and had excellent fuel economy, but I had quite a bit of trouble with the valves and smoke/buirning oil. I suspect that the turbo was on its way when I sold it. Oil pump went and I suspect that that was the start of the smokiness, even after expensive replacement. The 8v series 1 lasted me 5 years and cost me half as much to run as the 16v series 2 Turbo which I ahd for just under two!!
I'd like a cheap one really, say £500-£600 as a second car.

I've seen one for sale

Hello.
I've seen a 1989 Lancia Thema Turbo i.e.and I'd like to ask you some questions.
The car has 198000km's, runs on LPG(Liquid Petrol Gas) and looks good. My main concern is the high mileage... Do you think it can run for another 100000km''s(Without greater problems)?

Gratefully

Eduardo, no tengo ni idea! I have no experience of LPG in any car, let alone a Thema. 298,000 kms is possible but with the 8v I suspect.

Hi
I am thinking of selling my Thema as I hardly use it much, as I work in town and parking it is a nightmare.
Its a 1994 "M" 2.0ie 16v Vis model, in met grey, its got, Pas, Abs, Auto Interior mirror dip, speed monitor, Electric windows, ESR, Gemini C/L Remote control alarm immobilizer, Immaculate Beige Alacantara Interior but no the car has no Air/Con, it also has uprated suspension as well as 15" original alloys with 195 60 15 tyres. I am looking for £2k for it, it has full service history and all the original handbooks + tools. I live in Poole Dorset,
please email poogies@shahlynne.fsnet.co.uk
