Correct Transmission Fluid Level check

Can anyone tell me the proper procedure to check transmission fluid level on a 1990 Thema with automatic transmission? The dipstick has high and low level markings for +40 and +80 degree temperatures. My question is, do you leave the car running and in park or neutral after bringing up to temperature; do you cycle the shifter through the gears and check level immediately after: or do you shut engine off after warming up and then check?

I appreciate any info on this matter.
Thanks,
Mike Schieber

Hi,

The operating manual says there are two ways to check the oil level.
1) Cold oil (40°):
Let the engine run for one minute in neutral (without driving), shut it down and check the level using the "cold-oil" markings.

2) Hot oil (80°):
Drive for at least 10km to let the oil heat up to normal operating temperature. Then shut the engine down, and check the level using the "hot-oil" markings.

Greetings,

renoir.
