Having just entered into the world of lancia I have a few problems I could do with some advice about please.
I have just got a 1987 2.0ie turbo and have the following questions.
The brake pedal has a large amonut of 'play' before it functions, not knowing anything about hydraulic brakes what could cause this?
One of the back doors will not open, is could this be an electric problem of is it just stuck?
I need to replace the front windscreen, is there anywhere to get the metal trim for a good price.
It has a body kit on it, did this come as standard on the S1?
Any help advice would be very much appreciated.
S1 help needed.
Re: S1 help needed.
Hello Jon,
some years ago, I owned a 1987 FIAT croma 2.0 i.e. (very similar to Lancia Thema) and had also a problem with a back door. In my case, it was not possible to close the door anymore
My garage told me that something in the lock has broken, so it was no electric problem.
Greetings, Daniel

Hi Daniel, the car failed it's MOT test because the back door will not open from the outside, I thought only the front doors had to be opened from the outside to pass the test.
Thanks for the letter.

Re: S1 help needed.
Jon, there were a small number of S1s that came with a bodykit - can't for the life of me remember who fitted it. Was it Mike Spence anyone out there know? A Harmann kit if I remember.
Metal trim for the rear costs around £120 I believe, I guess the front will be the same. If you ever need to do the rear, a Sierra Sapphire rubber will do the job for £20 - although you won't get the nice chrome finish........

Lindsay, thanks for the info. The body kit is quite nice, a bit tatty in some places but not to bad.
I'm told that there is a Fiat rubber with a small piece of metal trim that will do the job on the front for about £35, Can anyone tell me what the finished product will look like.

Re: S1 help needed.
Jon,
I - still - own a Thema Turbo SW from '87.
I don't know if the problem is related, but over the last three years I had a problem with all doors. Once opened, I coudn't get them to close anymore.
The fix is simple, but will take some time. In my case the lock mechanism inside the door had started to corrode and the parts of the lock didn't pivot anymore around their axles. The solution was to remove the lock mechanism, leave it overnight in WD-40, fiddle with it a lot and after that it works like a dream from then on.
The only problem is that you'll have to remove the door interior panels to get at the lock, but it is really not a hard deal.
Good luck, and I hope that you've found the problem already!

Re: door problems
I had the same problem with a 1987 Fiat Croma some years ago, but only with one back door.
