Automatic heating system
Automatic heating system
Hello!
Just bought a 1990 Turbo 16V, I had a Fiat Croma TIE before and think it is much of the same tecnically.
On my automatic heating system I can't adjust the airflow, most of the air goes to the front window, not much to the floor. This was a nightmare on my Fiat too, so I hope someone has a tip.....Everything else works, I can adjust the fan speed, sometimes there's an "E" in the display for the degrees, is this right?.

Re: Automatic heating system
Hi Martin,
Question one is???, is the car provided with a clima-airco system Yes or No????, because the airco clima system can do a automatic check up by his self.
Let me now because this is the first question too start with the problem.

Re: Automatic heating system
Martin,
You should not mix up a climate control system and a automatic heating system. The last system is in fact only a thermostatically controlled heating system. It can only vary the amount and temperature of hot air coming into your car. When the outside temperature is too hot it will display an "E" because the selected temperature is too low. This is normal.
On my Lancia the automatic button selects always an outflow to the floor - I assume this is normal.

Re: Automatic heating system
OK, but the problem is that the air only comes to the front window, it seems that something has fastened in there.....I have tried everything, but can't adjust which way the air should come out....help! It is soon very cold here in Norway-my feet will be cold........
Re: Automatic heating system
Reading this question and the answers i assume you all have been in touch with the "automatic heating system" wich my lancia prisma also mounts. My problem is that I cannot get it to work properly because it doesnt mix hot and fresh air. I dont know if its a thermostate problem or a mechanical one. I can regulate the mixing of air moving directly the dossifier inside the motor, on the left of the air intake, but it seems something is broken between that and the console. ¿Has anybody had that problem? ¿is it worthwile repairing it? I live in Spain and in summer i pull the lever down to get only air from outside and in winter i push it mid-up to get a comfortable temp inside and forget until spring comes.
Thanks in advance
Thanks in advance
Re: Automatic heating system
I think what youre talking about has something to do with this link
www.alfapro.com
I have the same problem as you but concerning the temperature adjustment. i think the system mounted on early 90´s alfas, lancias and fiats is similar.

Re: Automatic heating system
The flaps to blend the air on the climate control or air con are controlled by two actuator motors on the LH side of the heater box these in turn are controlled by two mixed air temperature sensors in the top & bottom of the RH side of heater assembly also to the left side of the steering column on rhd cars is a small grille panel behind which is a passenger compartment air temperature sensor fan which draws air over the sensor, between these they control the temperature & the flaps in the heater, so if any of these is not working or the actuator motors are stuck in one position the heater will not work correctly.
if anyone needs futher information please contact me.
Lancia Dedra's also have the same system & it is possible to do a system check through the electronic heater panel.

Re: Automatic heating system
Dear friends
I seem to have a similar problem as Martin.
I have a Lancia Thema Turbo 16v 1992 with automatic heating and ventilation system (yes, its automatic!). The sýstem works fine venting hot air to the floor when cold outside. My problem is that at the same time a small amount of cold air comes up at my front window especially when going fast. It makes a draft in the cabin witch is very unpleasent. Does anyone know what the problem is and how to fix it?
Yours Sincerely
