Is it possible to replace the orginal shock absorbers on my Lancia Thema 832 Series 2 (1991), with some less expensive absorbers ?

Hi Morten,

Everthing is possible so as you perhaps now, or it is the right thing to do that is the discussion. I think it is not right to change your shock absorbers with a type from a order car, because the weight of the car and the engine is high.!!

In case you meane the right type only from a athor brand then I think you can do the Job.

If you have the electronic suspension system with the Auto/Sport buttons on the dash, then yes you should be able to use replacement shock absorbers for a Thema Turbo.

I have a 1991 series 2 16V Turbo SE which had electronic suspension when I bought it but the struts were leaking oil and cost of replacement was nearly the value of the car. I took all 4 struts off my old 8 Valve Turbo and swapped them straight out no problem.

Double check with someone like Barry Waterhouse of Evolution Engineering that they will fit the 832 to be sure, but you will need to change all 4.

I had the same problem with my series 2 turbo SE, yes and the replacement costs are huge, as I'm sure u found out! At around £1100 from fiat. One idea is to try and source them from europe, especialy from Italy, as they are quite a bit chaeper there, and if you manage it tax free too. Sorry I can't be much else help, but as also been said, it is possible to change them for the standard ones from a 16v turbo, but it's such a shame to loose the unique feature! Good luck!
