Hello there,
I was just wondering if there are any other GT1600 (pre-86 carb model) owners out there. I've acquired one fairly recently and am anticipating the fact that at some point I may need/like to compare notes with someone! Plus it would be interesting to get some idea of how many survive - and especially in the UK, where I reside.
Whilst on the subject, I was interested to see that Classic Cars magazine lists the GT1600 in its classic price list - the only non-HF model to feature. Does recognition for the non-HF models beckon??
Best wishes

Any GT1600 (carb model) owners out there?
Re: Any GT1600 (carb model) owners out there?
I have a Gt, but it is a 88 Gtie. My advice would be to join the Lancia Motor Club and to find out where your nearest meeting is.
There is also a Delta register which may tell you the answer to how many survive, or are at least registered.

Thanks. I'm already in the LMC and have been for a few years (off and on). My understanding is that there is an HF register but nothing for the non-HF models. I tried to drum up some interest in something for the latter a few years ago but there wasn't really any. I don't know if things are different now.
Good luck with the GTie.

Good to hear that you are already in the LMC.
There is a Gt advertised for sale in the latest Viva Lancia, so there must be at least two (unless you're selling yours)!
I think there was talk of setting up a Delta register (HF and non HF) a while back but I may be wrong. Drop Paul Baker a line or ring him (number is on page 1 of Viva Lancia). He runs the HF register and may be able to guide you further.
Don't you have to give details of your Lancia's when joining the LMC? There may be a database already set up.

Re: Any GT1600 (carb model) owners out there?
The only Delta GT I have seen on the road was an 85 met. blue (Chester area) which managed to block me in on a narrow village lane metres from my home; what are the chances of that! I have an 89 GTie, this is a great model that is generally reliable ,offers lively performance, and deserves more praise. The GT/GTie does tend to be overshadowed by the HF versions, it would be great to see more coverage of this model.
However i do have to confess that I have tried to improve some the weaknesses in the original specification, principally the interior has been swapped for Recaro (more confortble), Momo wheel (Dished, gives better driving position), HF turbo wheels (looks better in my opinion) with bigger 185/60 (improved grip). The exterior had HF4WD skirts and bonnets vents added by a previous owner, whilst i added an Evo spoiler (lowered position, fairly subtle). The car has also been slightly lowered. Whilst purists may recoil (I have stored the original bits, especially carefully Zegna interior!) I think this does transform the feel car of the from a warm hatch to hotish hatch car although an extra 10-20+bhp would really make this a more convincing argument. Perhaps if Lancia produced a similar spec as standard far more would have been sold in the UK?
Good luck with the GT.
