I recently Bought a RHD Delta G.T.i.e, So far its been a good solid car and I have had no major problems with it (Although I am comparing it with my last car, A LADA 2107(Don't Ask)).
But during the last few months I have noticed a few small problems.
1. The first problem is there is a lot of slack in the drivetrain, And this causes a large thud between Accelerating and downdriving the engine.
I am aware that the deltas have been known to have a bit of slack, but this is excessive. I would just like to know if this is a common problem, and so if it is likley to get worse?
2. The gearstick is awfly sloppy and although It still goes into gear nicely, while in third gear, I can move the stick to the left and right where 1st and 5th gears would normally be. I checked inside the dash compartment and all the levers and connections seem fine, Has something in the engine bay worn to cause this?
3. And lastly, just out of curiosity, My Delta has what I belive to be factory spotlights, I turned the switch on the dash on and they refused to light. A quick look revealed that they had no bulbs, and on closer inspection I realised that there was no wiring to them either. Are they just a styling gimic from the factory or have they been the victim of a cheap crash repair?
Any help would be greatly appriciated!

Hi Jonathan,
Regarding the gearstick, I think it's due to the transmission to the gearbox. Mine had the same effect and at got it fixed at Lancia official garage for a few pounds.
regards,
Ruben

Hi,
The Delta gear shift should be quite tight. There are some small ball joints in the mechanism going to the gearbox which can wear. The ball joints are held in place by nuts which could have slackened off creating sloppiness.
The front fog lights should work! There should be a relay under the dashboard above the passenger footwell (beside the Indicator flasher). The relay has to be the type which has a built in fuse (the contact layout is different from other types). I think that the holder for the fog light relay is green in colour.
Good luck
