John Simister is prefectly correct; the flasher works the lows--not the mains (minor brain fade that you may attribute to the fact that my Ferrero wheel does not use the dual-push button that allows the flashing function on the S1 cars).

And Johnny48 is also correct in terms of what flashing the lights are supposed to signify worldwide. Even on this side of the pond, some of us understand it perfectly well, in both polite and rude varants. However, in LA, instead of "I'd like to pass, please", many drivers take flashers to simply mean "I'd like to give you a little more light to read the text message on your mobile phone"...

Whoa der goatster! Easy boy! I'm right there with you in every respect. Just a little tongue-in-cheek humor. I have usually found that self-deprecating humor is the least offensive to anyone, although in this case I forgot that I "self-deprecated" an ENTIRE CLASS of Fulvisti with my last comment.

Mea Culpa my friends!

I'm a proud Fulvia owner... Case in point... there were A LOT more people sneaking around my car and asking question about it that ANY of the Ferraris, Lambos, and other assorted exotics present today. Many of those asking about the car were those SAME Ferrari owners!!! :o)

Rarity is indeed a virtue, and this car is about as rare as they get in the US, particularly Texas - otherwise know as "truck county". I got lots of praise and smiles out of her, and lots of suggestions for what to do first, next, etc; what color to do the interior in; how to coax a few more ponies of her, etc, etc, etc.

This car is going to be a BLAST!

Thanks guys. I guess I was just thrown off by the way my FLASH button seems to work. It turns on the lights and LEAVES THEM ON, when the light stalk is in the on postion.

I appear to have a short or bad connection somewhere. The light stalk works as described by me above... MOST OF THE TIME. Some times I turn on the lights....... nothing. But if I hit the flash button, PRESTO... HEADLIGHTS. From this point, the lowbeams/brights work as they should. So the FLASH button serves as sort of a "kickstart" for my low beams... Not always, but when the dont' work, the FLASH button seems to fix the problem.

The FLASH also can be used as you describe Ed, as a "courtesy signal", but only when the beams are off altogether. So we all seem to be on the same page, but I have a switch or electrical connection in my column that appears to be on it's last legs.

Thanks guys!

Erratic behaviour is usually caused by bad grounding of the switch. See if the ring fastening it to the column is tight.

My serie2 is also Beige Mirabello (Mark Meyer label is still there inside), with a brown interior.
It is not a very common colour, at least here in France...I've not seen any other than mine with this colour!
It would be nice to get a picture from you, just to compare.
What about colour of rims? I have some gry/silver and one a bit light beige/gold...
Thanks

Bad grounding can cause more than strange functioning of the lights and indicator switch. I had mine in pieces recently to fix the headlamp flasher (the wire had broken internally) and didn't tighten the small, outer knurled ring enough. I was driving last night and felt the whole assembly go floppier and floppier, and then various relays would click on and off and main beam came and went, so the driver in front thought I was flashing at her. This would also happen as I turned the steering wheel past the indicator-cancelling cams.

Then I pulled up in my driveway, went to touch the light stalk and got an electric shock, presumably from the ignition HT system. The car had been running a bit hesitantly, so who knows where all that HT voltage had been going before it decided to see how resistive a conductor I might prove to be? That's the first time I've had an electric shock while sitting inside a car.

I have been reading the comments about the color Mirabello & must admit I still don't know what color it is, although I know the Mirabello fruit color & Mirabello Liquore. I have no idea what is Mark Meyer means & why there is a Mark Meyer label in your car. Please enlighten me (us) .

He means Max Meyer, of course. And beige mirabello is, well, beige; not at all a bad color for the car, but nothing to do with fruit.
