Peter, You're absolutely right; MY 1975 is indeed exempt.

Below from the BAR site you directed us to Peter...

"Beginning April 1, 2005, the 30-year rolling exemption has been repealed. Instead, vehicles 1975 model-year and older will be exempt. Therefore, 1976 model-year and newer vehicles will continue to be subject to biennial inspection indefinitely."

GOOD NEWS! Looks like I lucked out and just snuck in under the wire with my '75, should I find my way back to CA some day. THANKS!

Back to the car in question ...

Still has no bids, and the auction ends tomorrow. I must admit I'm a bit surprised ... providing the underneath isn't falling out, it seems like a nice car for the money. Sure, there are several non-original features, but does that really matter for a car that's fun to drive and has terrific style?

Of course, it's possible that setting a fairly high opening bid has put people off ... the vendor might have been better with a reserve of $8,500, and a much lower opening bid, to get things moving.

There again, I wonder if some of our comments here have made prospective buyers a bit hesitant? It's typical of bulletin boards that there are many more 'lurkers' than posters.

Just speculating ...

Peter,

If it's good shape, which it appears to be, $8500 is a decently cheap price for a Fulvia Coupe here. There's not much of a supply of good Fulvias in the US, so the prices tend to be somewhat higher.

Honestly, I don't think our discussion has put off any prospective bidders. If anything, this discussion has ended up being pretty supportive of any issues this car may have.
