hahaha Ed! One to remember when mine is back on track!

On a serious note; it's a b@tch when you're going stuff your groceries in the back! You first need to crawl into the car to open the hatch!
And I once got attacked by fresh oranges when braking! Luckely the lettuce staid in place!

Bartman - I think I read about it in the newspaper !
2Man attacked by hungary oranges, trying to escape wilting in the heat lettuce.heads !

1x I removed the rear motor wiring & plastic motor-cover to get to the motor; to clean years of dust build-up & to grease the motor-screw. It wasn't a very smart idea; although I though it was at the time.
I should have done nothing but vaccum out therug in the trunk. It was fastened with the same mini-screws that kept the motor cover in place & was lined with 25kg of water-absording padding. I also wanted to paint the trunk to prevent future rust & this was easier with no rug to spill paint on. The mouldy padding didn't go back in.
After reconnecting the wires, nothing worked ! Don't ask me why, but an electrician told me, much later, that it was the dashboard switch !, Which would have taken him hours to locate, had I not just happen to go by to see what he was up to.
He was supposed to also be installing a horn botton on the dash - since the new steering wheel didn't allow the horn-button to be connected. He found a real impossible place to install the horn button, but it works. He replaced the rear-window motor-switch with a bigger, easily located ex-Porsche window-toggle & charged me a lot of money. Well, I may need the horn someday & it irrated me to not have a working back-window motor.
What did I learn ? Being a "professional fumble-fingers" means that I should stay away from even the simplest tools...but I learned that 30+++ years ago. But how could I break a switch mounted in the dash by removing & reinstalling 2 wires ? I've never figured it out. In fact I reconnected the wires & promplty - for perhaps 6 months - didn't play with the rear window switch. So maybe, in reality, 1 thing had nothing to do with the orher.
In the many months where I had no working rear hatch motor I simply & elegently taped over the motor's drive-screw, so it didn't fit into the hatch latch & thereby always had a raised window / phony-spoiler at the same time !
I live in a safe neighborhood, & anyway, my Z isn't parked outside after dark.

I was happy than little rain fell in the trunk/boot the 1 or 2x it showered. During the day I didn't worry about any one stealling my fruit & veggies. My Z isn't my Shopping-Car; besides I never go grocery-shopping.

Now I will have another excuse to not go! "But darling, I am afraid of rabid Fruit attacking me. I happened to Bart a while back".

Hey Bart, just ake your Gamma shopping or your Fulvia Berlina ! Leave your Z in the Garage.!!! In any case, witht he spare tire taking up 80% of the trunk, there is hardly room for anthing else. OK; oranges & lettuce will fit, but not too many.

I wrote this incorrctly the 1st time, in reply to Barts comment:

Bartman - I think I read about it in the newspaper !
"Man attacked by hungry-oranges, who were trying to escape wilting-in-the-heat lettuce-heads" !

Thus I post it, in corrected form, again. I won't bother to correct the rest of my mistakes.

Forgive me for my laziness.

It seems that the car was withdrawn from Ebay before the auction ended. It was probably sold. Any one knows were it went?

I've been told that there is a 1x charge for a car listing on ebay & if the bids are too low, it can be "killed" by the owner. So maybe this particular car went no where.
I've always wondered why any one would offer a "special-car" like this Z with a long-list of "things to do" instead of having those things done -in-advance- & then listing them as "things just done".
Not that I'm looking for a "special-car" (or any car) at this time (in fact I've recently reduced my "special- car -park by 50%) - but I "become 100% afraid" when reading long-lists of "to do's" on cars I won't buy.
To do's such as:
"minor-rust around windshield-frame"
"minor-perforations in floor"
"engine last started in 2001, but was very good then"
since we'all know that these minor "to-do's" are really "major-disasters-awaiting-some-sucker ! "

John's Rule-a-Thumb: "the more-older the car, the more special the car, the more bigger the guaranteed waiting- disaster".

I do not become afraid when reading "in need of major restoration & mechanical attention".

I believe the authors of minor "to do's" texts really mean "in need of major-restoration etc" & that they hope that some one will not ascertain the "real-truth" and buy a rolling-restauration-project.

Honestly, does any/ many one buy a "good-car" on ebay without going to see it ?
Regardless of how far away ?

The answer is - in my case - "Yes" .
2+ years ago I bought a very-dishonesty-described-car via ebay .UK - at a "horrendous (ly low) price" .
I didn't go from central Europe to N. UK to look at it !
Lucky me got a whole lot more that I though I was getting for my Euro .....

The UK seller stated "newly-rebuilt-motor/trans by "expert - shop so & so at cost of abc (= mucho dinario) + many many other new parts - however , body & interior beyond hope".

I (luckily) got a "mechanically rebuilt-car" (everything !) at the price of "much-less than the cost of the parts already installed !"
Lucky me ! I could have been cheated "big-time" ... but I believed the seller after several phone-con's & follow-up emails: He convinced me of his honest sincerity !
... & then (lucky me) - I transfered Euro - sight-unseen - instead of Pounds; believing I was bidding in Euro (stupid me) ... the seller was so kind as to arrange transport to Germany at a fair price - before he even had the (already transferred) funds .
I then paid the transporter (no-receipt) in Euro as well , believing that I had been quoted a transport-price in Euro & not in Pounds !
The "self-employed driver/transporter's" comment was "hey, this was supposed to be paid in Pounds & not Euro !! But, hey !! what the hell Mate ...you provided a clean "Loo" instead of saying hello & then gave me a cuppa decent coffee & a snack ...so whose counting the small change" . He drove away laughing.

I phone-contacted the seller, to report this nice-event, the safe arrival & to say thanks !

He said "hey, you were supposed to transfer Pounds to me as well & not Euro !
Are you cheating everybody or are you just totally daff ?
I asked "well, what should I do now, send you more Euro ?"
I think his last words were "bloody Yank ! " before I heard a long laugh & a dead phone line.

Only days later, sifitng through the huge-pile of Invoices & repair bills and eye-ball-checking - in-detail - what I'd actually bought - did I realize I had (as written above) bought a mechanically new car !!! ...
which was fine by me...
& yes, as he promised - the interior was completely filled to the belt-line with dirty, swampy & smelly water. Why it didn't leak "out" I still don't know. It took a huge human effort & several brave souls to wrench open the doors & punch drainage holes in the floor. Phew !! that small !!

I was soon more so happy than I deserved to be...since I - again sight unseen... bought a similar-model Lancia some weeks later - after speaking with the seller - a Lancia-Dealer - who had taken the simalar- model Lancia (which he sold new & serviced for 7 years) in-trade, 21 year earlier !

Only to then park it in his showroom - for 21 years !! And after speaking with the original (only) owner; a fine Gent of 80+ years ... who told me "it was perfect when I bought it - new & perfect when I traded it in some years & 40,oookm later. I traded for another new Lancia...
It was perfect -except for the slight motor rumbling (bearings?) - which got worse & worse in the last months of my ownership. I am glad it will survive". I said "thanks, Sir" !
The seller/dealer said "we just never got around to fixing the motor".
The price I paid (in Euro, this time) was about the value of the 4 Light-Weight-Sports-Wheels & probaly less than the value of the "wow" leather-interior !

1xGerman perfect body / interior Lancia & 1x UK "parts.donor" Lancia = 1 (almost) perfect 30+ year old Lancia, that now qualifies for "Veteran-Car-Registration / Tax & Insurance" - at very low yearly rates ...
- in Euro & not Pounds !!

I just wish winter would pass & I could drive it; park it in the driveway each evening without worrying about having to start it up each day & drive slowly for 5 míles or more. to warm it up. By which time I'm at the office. As you can ascertain, I want it to last another 30+ years.

I could have been cheated so many time in these transactions .. but thankfully everyone (including "daff" me) was so honest that it all turned out alright !
Last Autumn both of these cars were "finished-combined" to become 1 x old Lancia; the 30+ year old (original) tires were swapped to !
The "parts car has passed on to another Lancia owner; there were parts (glass, doors, trunk-lid etc)
that he needed for his 30+ year old "Special-Car".
