Trevi

Unread post by Tony Field »

I've just got my Trevi back on the road taxed insured etc. after 13yrs. but badly need original mirrors for both doors. Also the gearbox is noisy and it is difficult to get 5th gear. I suspect a bearing. Can anyone help with suggestions and the mirrors please?

The gearbox being noisy is probably the infamous input (primary shaft) bearing. Mine failed at about 118,000 miles which is typical. As for difficulty getting it into 5th, how is it for getting into reverse? If that's difficult too, you will want to adjust the shifter at the nut where it enters the gearbox.

Hi Tony,

Great to hear there is at least one other Trevi fan. I have an 81 Two litre model, Ive been restoring it for many years. Chris Bastow at Betacar has been a great help. Its very difficult to get Trim parts now. I will keep an eye out for you here in Ireland. My Gearbox is fine. Its only done 68K. The stick can be a bit floppy though. It is probably the linkages but it hasn't pissed me off enough yet to warrant an investigation.

Keep up the good fight.

Fintan.
