Dear all,
I'm converting my 1600 beta coupe engine to a 2 ltr, high compression, twin 40DHLA engine. I have the Guy Croft inlet manifold but it needs a wedge plate to compensate for the 20 degrees inclination of the engine. I've asked Guy about it, but haven't received any info yet. Does anybody know how to solve or has anybody got experience with this problem? Maybe a different manifold?

It cannot be the correct manifold - that much is clear - the GC manifold for the Beta has the correct inclination built into it so you most likely have a GC manifold intended for a FIAT engine or perhaps a Montecarlo/Scorpion.
You will need a different manifold unless you're handy at light re-engineering!!
You might also want to think about twin 45 carbs, my limited experience with a 2 litre fitted with high compression pistons, 'big cams' etc was that twin 40s are too small, 45's will give you more.

Thanks for the info. Will give Guy a call to clear this manifold business. According to your description he sold me the wrong manifold (though I clearly told him what car I own). To be continued. Can you tell me a bit about an appropriate fuel system for twin carbs. What kind of fuel pump you use etc? I would much appriciate it.

You need a Facet (or similar) red or gold top high pressure pump, a fuel pressure regulator (the Filter Kings are good) and obviously the linkages.......
