rust

Unread post by Jasper »

I'm repairing bodywork bit by bit and have now arrived at the area around the rear window. The part I want to tackle next is the rain water discharge unit (what's the proper English word?) just below the rear window. I'm affraid I have to remove the entire window. What's the best way to do so (and how do you replace it?) or is there a way around the removal of the window?

Thanx,
Jasper (from Holland: that's why I can't think of the proper word)

I would call it the drainage channel I take its the one under the rear window. Be careful on the early Beta Coupes the front and rear screens were bonded. It would much better to get a windscreen replacement company to take it out for you as they have all the right tools to tackle this job. The rear screens are expensive. This channel is part of a cross member which runs across the back of the car. They have to be welded in place as they form part of the cars main structure. Don't try and patch it up with body filler. I had this problem on my Beta coupe and would have been the next job had I kept the car. Unfortunately the new owner is aware of the problem on these cars and will be doing the repair. Hope this helps
