VX running too cool!

Unread post by Peter »

Has anyone had problems with their VX running too cool? - My engine takes 15 mins (standing) to get into the green - When the engine is warmed and I start driving, the needle after a couple of minutes, moves back into the yellow!

I've replaced carburettor, thermostat, spark plugs, fuel filter, the filter in the boot above the petrol tank and hoses, but am not technical enough to know what else I should be looking at.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Kind regards,

Peter

How about the temperature sender? have you checked the actual coolant temperature? also, has the system been thoroughly bled?

All the times it happened to me it was the thermo, even when I mounted a new one because I slightly damaged it. So your engine warms up standing still, it takes a long time because of the thermo, and when you start driving it cools down because of the thermo again. So fit a new one and have fun with your VX!

Something else, I start driving fast with myVX when the oiltemp is green. That is after 12 kms revving not more then 3000 rpm.

Thanks Chris and Jan for your input.

It was a faulty new thermostat, put an older one in and perfect!
