Nice Gadget

Unread post by lucasgeheniau »

Nice detail, found in QuattroRuote 4 from 1959.
I wonder whether there are still Appia's with such a mirror/radio. Perhaps the option was never realized??? Who can tell?

Kind Regards

Lucas

Hi Lucas,
Search the internet for Voxson Vanguard and you will find the mirror cum radio you are looking for. You may even come across one on Ebay.
The Voxson company was located in Rome, and this model was manufactured from 1959 to 1961. As you said, they were offered as an option on the Lancia Appia, but also on Fiats of that period. In view of the short production period, I imagine it was not a huge commercial success.

Yes Jan, it wasn't a huge commercial success because it didn't work very well: the radio aerial was in the windscreen, so the reception was very short.
