Factory Fitted Sunroof
Factory Fitted Sunroof
Has anybody had the pleasure of removing a sunroof. I can't figure out why it will not fit flush with the roof...........
Re: Factory Fitted Sunroof
Uh oh. Sounds like the nylon runners that move in the track have disintegrated. This is a common problem.
I had my mechanic replace the broken pieces at the same time that the headlining was replaced. However, according to the official shop manual, you first open the sunroof lightly, then remove the sunroof control handle escutcheon (do not try to remove the control handle itself!) and then "pull the lining downwards by releasing the retainers." This is referring to the lining on the sunroof panel--do not disturb the main headlining! You then remove the front and rear plates that are now exposed. The rear ones are apparently specifically left side and right side. You then "restore the lining to its original position" and then get out of the car and lift off the sunroof panel. From the diagram, it looks like you lift up the front of the panel and then grab the handle (which should have been in the down--unlocked--position all along) and gently pull the panel forward in the track to bring it out of the car.
Best of luck
