Radiator Fan

Unread post by mat »

Hi

I have a curious problem with the radiator fan - it rotates the wrong way . Its on a S2, with thermo switch in the radiator. The live feed is fused from the starter motor and the cicuit earther through the thermo switch. The live and in line fused feed wire is blue and the earth black. It doesn't appear to have been tampered with in the past.
I could just swap the wires over, but I note that the connectionc into the in line fuse are female (wire) and male (fuse) and the earth wire is male. This indicates that the wiring hasnt been changed.

Any ideas would be appreciated
thanks

Mat, I think the wiring must have been changed. There is supposed to be a relay between the thermo switch and the fan, item 8 on the wiring diagram at the back of the S2 instruction book.

A small Question:
does it suck or does it blow?
I think it should suck.

I think that depends on where you are to observe........

Very good Lucas!

But, in fact, the fan should suck air from the front of the radiator through to the engine compartment. Or blow it from the back of the radiator towards the engine.

Many thanks. I will look at the relay. I do find the wiring diagram difficult as what is in stalled is never coded as the diagram says!
The fan should suck through, I think
I will update if I get the relay bit right
thanks
