Merc & VW are bringing in the Bluetech idea in 2008 to 50 of your states. The emissions even meet the EPA / CA crazy reductions set for 2008.

Ammonia (Urea extract that is a waste product in agriculture) will help kill NOx emissions and particulate filter along with Low Sulphur diesel should change minds about diesel in USA.

Hello all.

A couple of points about this.

My Lucas injection system would be dreadful if measured on some machine for "environmental purposes"

However, at full power on the rollers, unburned hydrocarbons were 98 ppm, not bad for a primitive system.

The Lucas system will not run on ethanol; it is lubricated solely by the gasoline that passes through it, ethanol is non-oily.

As for "carbon footprints" and that sort of rubbish, I don' believe any of it; I think that good careers and large amounts of money have been created on the back of this alarmist nonsense. Recently near Geneva I was at a party attended by a number of world-class physicists from CERN. One of these was especially vehement on the subject: "Rubbish" she said "And I am speaking as a scientist".

Since the Sun warms us so effectively at 8 light-minutes distance, it is obvious to me that one small hiccup for the Sun is one big headache for mankind...

Have to agree with Paul on the Sun's influence!

I think we have a long way to go on how much man's contribution makes to the overall picture. However, the hockey stick curve showing CO2 variation with the industrial revolution (using polar ice samples) is not just hearsay. We have some responsibilty for how we treat this planet and as classic car owners I am proud to see recycling achieved in a most effective and enthusiastic manner! Here's to the next decade of Fulvias!

Lovely autumn colours here in Haute-Savoie this year; perhaps the winter will be very cold?

Means that we shall be burning more wood here than usual; well I am not prepared to freeze to death - it can get down to -15° here. So my "carbon footprint" will be more than the usual size 8 this winter.

Still the oil traders believe that fewer people will be able to afford to buy oil so perhaps this will cancel out!

Happy motoring to all

Paul
