Just to clarify re timing chain, I had the flat spot before changing the chain as I now remember, and changed the chain after I fitted the VAR cams as it was never quiet after they were fitted and the new chain made no difference. Thanks for making me think about what really happened.

Interesting about diff diameter temp guages as I have only seen one sort clock size.

Also all 1.6HFs had wider track both front and rear with 1390mm front and 1335 rear as opposed to 1300mm/1280mm on 1.3s

Strange question to ask but aren't there more different body details.
Mine has for instance no hole's on the side wing's below where the 1.3
second and 3e has a squire hole. (like printed in the HF Folder)
Also the door's don't have the red light mounted, it's not stamped out, same
as by the Monte Carlo, but i have the little window's that can open Monte version
are closed.

Best regards,

If Lusso or Luxus version then both doors have courtesy light switches and red lights. I'll take off my anorak now.

John,

That raises an interesting question. According to the well-known fold-out brochure, the S2 1600HF was available in two forms, "Lusso" and a 'sport' (though not so named).

The sport version resembles the S1 Fanalone, except for the larger main beams--rubber windscreen surround, no bumpers (and no square holes in the wings to mount them), lightweight seats, door pulls with no armrest, no courtesy light switch on the passenger side.

The "Lusso" version has brightwork windscreen surround, bumpers (with the square wings holes to mount them), differnent lightweight seats w/ headrests, door armrests (like the standard Coupes), and 2 courtesy light switches and door lights (as you point out).

The question is this: Did that 'sport' version actually exist? or was it just an attempt to maintain the homologation for the Fanalone configuration, so that the works cars could be run in their original form? In other words, has anyone seen an 818.740 car in this 'sport' configuration? I've seen plenty of S2 1600HFs without bumpers, but they all have brightwork screen surrounds and the square wing holes that betray the fact that bumpers were removed after delivery.

Wow guys, so many replies, thanks a lot.

What about those negative camber wishbones? I can't reall tell whether these were fitted to the car by the previous owner. If not, silly me as I have just sold a set to Lukas Wilcox in the UK. Now that I don't have a set to reference, is there a way to measure the lower and upper arms in order to determine whether they are indeed negative camber?(So that I can set the toe out correctly)

The front wheels appear to have a more upright stance than the positive camber on my S1 and S2 which quite obviously have positive camber.

Another thing, the car is fitted with Cromodoras from a Flavia. What size tyres should be fitted.

Oh and I really don't like the seats, all squishy and far too big for a Fulvia! Maybe need to find some racing buckets!

Cheers

Ed,

I agree: the spares books are not much help in solving this (unless one belives them 100%) - they show the same part number regardless of 1.3 or 1.6 for the windscreen surround, and the wiring diagrams show no passenger side light switch for any 1.6 (but do not differentiate between "Lusso" and others) amongst many other "anomolies". Photos, such as you reference are likely more revealing. I don't know if I have ever seen any S2 1600 without bumpers and locating holes (I've just never looked) but I am pretty sure I have never seen any with the door pulls instead of arm rests (but there is one on Ebay italy with just that as we speak but two with the arm rests and each with a varity of seats !) , but as I have often seen it written that the UK only ever received the Lusso version maybe thats understandable. There is also one with the black window trim here: http://www.carclassic.com/marque.asp?Marque=Lancia

That said there is a member of the UK LMC whose S2 1600 was owned from new by a manager in Lancia UK and it had several factory options spec'd on it at build (of those I discussed with him I recall cams, manifolds etc, but maybe more). I wonder if the "sport" is actually any car that has options on top of the Lusso, therefore having no defined standard ?

Upper arms are 220mm from centerline of pinions to center of ball joint (221.5 for 1.3) and lowers are 361mm from centerline of pinions to center of ball joint (353 for 1.3). The dimensions are in the Fulvia Technical Data book.

Sometimes the top arms have "540" stamped on the web by the ball joint ( I have seen then with and without).

Hi Ed,

Question about this one, how can you see that you have such a version then? This because i
have this Fulvia version.
The only thing that's missing are the seat's in my car.

Joop
