Fulvia Clutch

Hi everyone,
I have a Series 1 Fulvia, right-hand drive. The clutch cable has to go thru' a big "s" bend to get from the clutch pedal to the clutch fork? on the left-hand side of the gearbox. I was wondering if it would be possible to move the clutch fork to the right-hand side of the gearbox to enable the cable to be straighter. There appears to be a blanking plug on the right-hand side opposite the mounting point for the fork. If it is possible, one would obviously have to modify the fork but what else needs to be done ?

Hi Steve,
As I only know LHd cars my suggestions are probably not 100% reliable. But the blank plug can be removed and I you wish the clutch release bearing rod installed from the other side. Slight mods to the bronze bushings in the bellhouse might be needed.

The cable is attached exactly in the middle of the gearbox.
So I think the RHD version is less bent than the LHD version, or am I wrong?(pedal)

Thanks William for the reply. Looking more closely it will probably be difficult to remove the shaft with the gearbox in the car as the sub-frame upright could get in the way. Might have to wait for the imminent clutch replacement.

Lucas, you must be correct. What I'm hoping is that if I am able to reverse the shaft, then I can use a rod directly from the top of the clutch pedal to the top of the modified 'upright'. That would eliminate the cable altogether. When I attempt it I'll post an update.

You will surely have to remove the gearbox as the fork moving the release bearing is connected to the shaft with a bolt.
