headlight covers for Fulvia Sport
Re: headlight covers for Fulvia Sport
I do not know who 'that same guy' is but I can tell you that the most striking Flavia Sport ever made was the one-off built for the targa Fiorio which had a radically modfied rear end. Among other modifications like the shortened wheelbase and the lower waist line with E-type style forward opening nose!
If I had the money i would have a replica made of that car. But you need a good original Sport body to start with and those are rare and expensive. Its simpler to create a special Fulvia Sport.
What is everybodies opinion about the evergrowing group of zagato competizione look alikes? It seems orange is the color used the most for respraying Zagatos at the moment.

This Flavia Sport looks allready great on the pictures as it is now. It's just that I do not have the funds to buy it!

Omicron replied within minutes of my email with a price for "stone-chip covers"... I then re-replied, without delay - asking if price was including insurance & mailing to Germany.....expect reply tomorrow.
I didn't stop breathing when I read the quoted price, but I can't remember it in Euro, nor Pounds now that I am no longer in the office.

Re: headlight covers for Fulvia Sport
the President (poor guy) of the Lancia Club Deutschland, Willie Kaufmann, owns a drop-dead beautiful non-racing Zagato Flavia. The 1st time I saw it he told me a great story of his particular car , which he bought new ! & the Flavia Zagato in general.
He smiled 1000 watt the entire time; especially when he recalled reading an article before he bought his car, that statedthat the Flavia Zagato was the "ugliest car ever built" & that he bough his anyway .... as "a Sports GT, with room for the kids".
I won't comment on the ugly argument, but I feel that they look 'so weird' that "you just got to love 'em".
I saw my 1st one about 5 years ago - in "used-condition" in a showroom in Italy. It was not a car I would walk a mile to buy.......for Willie's car (not that he wants to sell it)....I'd run 10 miles !
Why did I say "poor-guy". Am I speaking negatively of the LCD ? Heavens no !
Willie described his "hobby job" & the hours it robs him of at the last LCD General-Meeting...which, it seems.. takes more time than his full-time "real-job", That why I said "poor-guy".
Historical Note: his predecessor, K.H. Hagar had the job forever...which either kept him "very young & fit!"
or made him "old & tired before his time" ?
KHH, if you read this, please reply

Re: headlight covers for Fulvia Sport
Quote from William:
At the moment I'm restoring my S2 fulvia Sport (Zagato). It will loose it's bumpers; I'm dreaming of the flared arches and the double headlights with the plexy covers. So a sort of 'competitzione look-a-like' is my idea of the rebirth of mine.
Why? A standard S2 is b#tt-ugly with its rubber bumper overriders; standard steel wheels...
the original color of mine was ... white. Luckely a previous owner changed the color into red with a black hood.

After a complete restauration

I'm going for a amaranto montebello 'sporty' sport (no competit. look-a-like)

modifications I'm planning:
- a bit lower
- subtle flared arches (so it looks wider)
- dual headlights (Fulvia berlina donor ones)
- plexy covers (they look sooooooo cool)
- the fat 6" mille miglia wheels in a nice color (antracite)
for the rest: mechanics will be upgrated piece by piece when sporty spice is back on the road.
Orange is not my thing; reminds me of a certain population living approx 20kms north from my doorstep.
If it was a S1 sport; I would keep it simple: original! A S1 is standard in 'balance'; a S2 has some features that make it ... let's say ... less elegant.
That's why it will be 'tuned by my taste'. (or 'the lack of' off course).
but like taste changes, when the project will be finished; we'll be several years older. (and wiser???)

Re: headlight covers for Fulvia Sport
great photos ! Are you restoring it because you want to, so you can cover your Fulvia needs with a "family-car" or are you restoring it because it needed to be restored.
I agree (for 1x) with all you said, but i have become a "stickler" for not investing my yearly pay check into fatter, wider, lower fenders, wheels, tires .... as I once did (not on Lancia's)...but it was my business back then, so I did these things "purely for promotional purposes", tax deductable, of course.
Therefore I also agree with your comments:
"it will be 'tuned by my taste'. (or 'the lack of' , of course)".
&

Q: will it really take several more years / are you doing the Gamma on odd days & the Zagat on even days ß

Re: headlight covers for Fulvia Sport
I got - again - a very quick reply today concerning "mounting bits, pieces & advice", a tax free "export" price quote. I'll post em all tomorrow. & a price for delivery to the Continent
As I was working on this "project" in the office today, I realized that I better get some real work done or I'd be forced to fire myself. Thus I was been forced (by guilt) put off ordering until tomorrow.
Now, all I have to do is figure how to slip this purchase past the "finance-committee" and how to make it appear to be a justified company-expenditure.
Which means that I may never be able to order these "desired items".
Life issa Beach sometimes !

We have these made in small numbers for S1 &S2 - they are different. Racing Z's had them, they serve as stone protection for headlamps, which are now scarce.
Price £ 187.00 (€ 233 )
& yesterday:
Shipping is £12 by insured airmail.
Fitting - they come with edge clips which grip onto back of headlamp surround. Some people choose to drill through both surround & cover & screw them on, but that damages both items!
I suppose they could be bonded in position.
We advise that they aren't often removed, so clean everything nicely before fitting.
I mention VAT 17.5%, unless you have a EU tax number or they are shipped out of EU.
Lancia put them on Zagatos at Daytona & races like that, they have an aerodynamic advantage, plus aesthetic improvements. They are not for optical improvement. Cibie stopped headlamp production; we are having trouble getting new ones - so protection against damage is a good reason!
