1,6HF mono block

Unread post by m! »

Hello there,

Happy New year to everyone here. I hope you all had a wonderful festive time.

Just a quick question if anybody knows the answer, I'd be very grateful.

Are series 1&2 1,6HF monoblocks the same? If not, why not? The engines are both 818.540. Does that mean they are the same?

Thanks for your answer

It seems I have a cracked 1,6 block

Is there a fix for this?

Thanks

One method is stitching, as Neil has already mentioned on the LMC forum. Another method which might work is laser welding, by which a small missing chunk of my HF's number three cylinder was re-made (it had been gouged out by a broken piston ring). The UK specialist I used is Jim Stokes Workshops - I hope it's OK to mention them on this site as they don't compete directly with our advertisers - but there must surely be a company offering a similar service in Italy. I guess it depends where the crack is.

Thank you for your response John - I will look into laser welding as well as stitch welding but what is the correct method to use in such a fix?

Perhaps someone who has had this problem before as I believe it is common one in the 1,6 monoblock

Thank you
