Set off under bright blue (but ashen?) UK skies to take Fulvia to MoT. She ran sweeretly until 10 miles down the road accelerating from a round about the clutch suddenly started to slip.
No sign of oil leak. Slackened off the clutch cable and managed to get home in rush hour traffic - max 40 mph. All gears fine, engine fine. Only bites at very top of clutch pedal (last 2 mm) and very gentle accelerator pedal needed.
Could this be the clutch housing spring?

It could be oil, but if not it's likely the pressure plate. And unless the clutch plate itself is fairly new, you should probably consider replacing everything--pressure plate, cluth plate and release bearing.

What is the clutch ? series one with springs pressure plate, series 2 with diaphram p/p??
I have have clutch slip on 2 fulvias due to oil from the primary shaft oil seal failure. I normally fit the Fiat Uno 1.3 Turbo clutch set - straight swop and more capable - and you can pick up quite cheap on ebay if you keep your eyes open.

I think you mean the FIAT Uno Turbo 1.4 clutch don't you? At least I always use these. Incidentally the cover also fits Fanalones but you need (from memory) a BMW 1600 driven plate (1960s).
Of course you are correct that slip is often caused by oil leaks from the quill shaft seals, but in this case, with the take up right at the top of the pedal I suggest that the clutch was worn out, though of course gearbox oil is quite likely to be a contributing factor.
