Absolutely right. Don't go near those Chinese tyres, they would be an insult to everything Lancia stood for. Besides, the ad says they were made in 1999 so they will be as hard as nails by now. The car would feel horrible and have no grip. The Vredestein option sounds favourite given the Michelins' cost.

I changed some old Michelins on my S2 coupe that had gone hard as nails (on a long fast run the tread had split down to beginnings of "canvas") the with new 165x14 XAS's. Boy does the car feel good and handles brilliantly - best tune up I could buy!

Chinese tyres will kill you!! Think what they would have been fitted to in PRC. certainly nothing like a Fulvia and probably only good for some slow utility vehicle needing high miles (hence hard compound).

WOW! Sounds unanimous! Looks like I may have just tossed away $150... :(

Oh well, as stated I have no intent of mounting them any time soon, IF EVER after this rousing chorus! I'll just throw them in with my other spares etc. Maybe my mechanic can use them on something else. I'll ask him what he thinks about this as well, but I can imagine what he'll say...

Live and learn...

Well John, I miss my Fulvia!!! I thought about cycling, but to be honest, I'm a rather busy person and cycling 250 km a day would cost me too much time. So, I bought a small old car, a vehicle which brings me from a to b. I absolutely miss the Fulvia-feeling. I can't imagine driving another car than a Fulvia just for fun. I'm in love forever! Every free minute I have, I enjoy working on my Fulvia, so I hope she will be back on the road within 3 months, happier than ever before.

All the best,
Claire

Both U & I should be very happy. My F. is still in the shop, waiting to have a horn-button mounted in the dash (the 1st solution to this challenge wasn't a solution at all) since there is no "simple-possibility" to mount a working / connected button in the newish-steering-wheel & you 'Baby' is being replaced, 'bit-by-bit', so that - in the end - you will only have the original chassis # left from the original car.
So why should we be happy ? It is getting winterish & we have dry-parking !
Glad I read your last emails. I almost forgot (that I have a Fulvia ?) that I want to go see my Z (it has been months since I dropped it off for the horn-connection +++ ); which I will do tomorrow. Then I can reply to your emails properly.

3 months means Nov 07+ Dec 07 + Jan 08 = Feb 08 & Feb is still winter,. So work slowly, so it is not finished before mid March or sometime in April 08 & the sun is shining.
This posting shouldn't be in the "tires" (or tyres, if you insist) category any more !
Claire, please start a new thread & keep us (all) posted on your progress.
I, who may be 'somewhat' alone in saying this, care about your car & your progress. Photos of "work in progress" ! , pls email them, with comments.
If you decide to ride your bike 250km a day; join the tour-de-france....you'll win !claire@mi-ojo.com wrote:
