Hi
I'm getting my crusty Cromadora's repainted and seems like a good time to treat them to some new rubber.
I'd appreciate any recommedations re best choices for fast road use.
Thanks!
Paul

Toyos FT800 I think are OK for road use. I use AO48 Yokohamas for racing

Depends what you want to do with your car. Suggest you try to get compliant wall 80 profile Michelin (I have Michelin Energy 175/80/14 fitted to my 1600 sport). You could look at Uniroyal rallye 530 as well. Compliant wall tyres work with the fulvia suspension.

Re: 1600HF Tyres
Thanks Tim, but I've never heard of compliant wall before! What does it mean?
I have the standard 6 x 14 Cromadoras, and use it for general trips and occasional classic regularity type road rallies.
I've found they handle pretty darn well whatever tyres they have on, but this is the first time I've actually had to buy some!
I found the Michelin Energy on www.pneus-online.co.uk and they have an Energy XT1 and XH1 - which do you use? I have not found the Uniroyal yet.
Thanks

Re: 1600HF Tyres
Compliant just means (and I am sure someone like Huib will correct or add more info) the way the radial plys work making the side wall softer and acts as part of the suspension. It made Michelin famous and was used as the tyre for Lancia car suspension design early on right through to Fulvia. You dont get that with low profile track tyres and have a much harsher ride. I know because I run 60% Pirellis on my 1600HF (but it has lowered suspension and Spax dampers for track use). The steering is lot heavier at low speed as well.......
I believe I have XH1's on my sport. BTW if you fork out for michelins the investment is worth it as you probably wont be buying any more for miles and miles. Make sure you get the full profile though.
Hope that helps.

If you are in the US (as I am) your choices may differ from other parts of the world.
I recently put a set of 185/70R14 Pirelli Cinturato P3000 tires on my 6x14 Campanolos and LOVE them.
They are available at Discount Tires, and reasonably priced in my opinion (~$75/tire).
And what better name than Pirelli on an Italian car!
