Removing Aluminium upright

Unread post by Sheldon Laing »

Can anyone tell me whether I can remove one of the aluminium uprights from the front sub-assembly without removing the transfer spring, driveshafts engine gearbox etc. It appears that I can compress the spring, remove both upper and lower wishbones, the shockabsorber and the mounting bolts on the side of the spring and then remove the upright?

Any advice guys?

Thinking about it and typing it takes more time than removing the spring.

You could probably do it as you suggest. However, I always check the geometry by measuring diagonals, both in the vertical plane between uprights and in the horizontal plane. You cannot do that with gearbox and engine in place.

Easy and quick for someone who has done it many times before. Remebre the subframe is not in the car and I don't have the "Lancia" tools. Have to make do with some I made up myself.
