My 72 flavia coupe seems to have developed a knocking noise at the rear which sounds like the exhaust banging on the underside of the boot floor but on investigation it appears that this is not the case as the mounting is solid.
I have replaced the shock absorbers and the rear springs have been replaced also, anybody have any ideas as to what it might be.
many thanks
Craig

Re: flavia coupe knocking noise at the rear
My Gamma #1 had knocking noises like "KLONK GRONG" when it rolled over anything, pebble or twig... Recently, when I took it to a Lancia Specialist, for carb & timing; which was done quickly.
Still, it wasn't ready for weeks. The knocking noise was such a bother to mechanic & his boss, that they trial & error researched & located the many causes. Since the car had been more or less dormant for 20+ yrs prior to me, it is understandable that the replaced all bushings... with (so they said) highly modified bushings ,,, from Beta, Accord; Alfa ? & whatever else looked like it would fit.
I now ride along in RR silence & thank 'em for it...although I had a problem coping with repair bill. My Gamma Friends; some of whom who rode in or drove my car down to & back from -or actually at- the 09 Gamma Meet Torino said "J, the car is finally not an embarrassment & if thats all you 'ad to pay, be happy"
So, it may be a bushing. or more bushings
Mechanic & Boss decided to replace them all; they explained it to me in such detail that I fell asleep; of course..since they were both speaking different languages @ same time, as phone was ringing; other people walking in & out, asking questions & making (Gamma) jokes...that the explanation took forever.. I have no idea what I was actually / finally told, other than everything is now alright
...I swear...the car now handles tighter'; so I guess I should be klonkgronglessly happy.
PS: the carb & ignition timing are perfect !

if you have replaced shocks did you tighten the mounting bolts that go through the eyes tight enough they are noisy if even the slightest bit slack

Re: flavia coupe knocking noise at the rear
Did you check the rubbers of the rear anti roll bar, both the D rubbers and the cotton reel in the drop link.
Also check the shackle blocks.
