Hi
I was wondering how I might get the plastic chrome covered plastic grill shield re-chromed. The last time I asked someone it was about the bonnet grill, which I eventually painted with a spray chrome (with poor results). I was told by a chrome plating firm that 'it can't be done' and that an industrial process is required. Any suggestions including best paint products would be gratefully received

chroming plastic grill badging?
Re: chroming plastic grill badging?
I have been told that the original "chromed" plastic parts are not really chromed but vapour deposited aluminium with transparent paint. Eventually the transparent paint comes off. The aluminium follows quickly.
You have to continue looking for a firm specialising in rechroming plastic parts, zamac etc. All these companies have in common, that it takes many times longer than quoted. Many of them also loose items. best photograph everything.
But the result is worth it.
