colours / paint
Re: colours / paint
Giallo Bankok is best described as a very pale grass green--not a horrible color in itself (looks OK on a Stratos), but a very odd color for a car with the lines of a Fulvia coupe. But the 'what were they thinking?' award has to go to Giallo Maio, a bilious green from 1973, best described as the result of a dog eating grass...
Having seen photos of Sam's (sand) and Shaun's (white) coupes, I'd never suggest that the coupes don't look good in light colors. I'll still, however, stick with my suggestion to either keep it Verde Dublino or change to Blu Lancia.

Re: colours / paint
Not that I have anything to add; I just learned (for what its worth) more about Fulvia colors & preferences in the last 5 minutes than in the last 5 years. I just returned, 1 day before this lovely event ends (arriving 2 days after it started) from the LCD Spring Meet, where there were too many rare & beautiful Lancias to describe.....incl. a # of Fulvia's of various shapes, sizes, vintages & colors. A white 1 looked quite sharp, a dark brown 1 & 2 dark blues looked "quite serious", the 2 reds were different reds: the 1.3s being 'as red as red gets red ' ; while the very rare S1 "Z" was a darker 'more-purposful" ( 1 or 2 l's in this word ?) red. Since (1 mans opinion) "Z's" have (am I allowed to say this ?) "sexier-lines" than Coupe's , I am not sure a "Z" would be legal if painted "as red as red gets red". Sales of sunglasses would, however, drastically increase. All of the Fulvias looked fantastic. Some seemed to have "patina'ed" original-paint (not only paint-color, but the very 1st original paint). I looked under fenders, bonnets & rear lids; as well as under vaious gaskets to see if the colors were original. They all seemd to be "original". Since my (a less rare) S2 "Z" is the same color of the "Z" mentioned above; which was sometimes parked close to the "redder" Coupe, I was able to compare them; close my eyes & fantasy swap the colors. I left the event a much happier man, since I'm finally convinced that the previous owner of my "Z" did well in not changing reds...by keeping the original darker red when doing a 'full & 100% restoration" 10 yrs ago. My "Z" stayed home; I went in a "lesser-Lancia" (aren't all non Fulvia Lancia "lesser-Lancia ?). Still had fun.
Re: colours / paint
being an 'old-paint & body man', in a youngish body, .......I'll weigh in to say - "always keep it original".
A color you don't like now most probably will , at some time down the road, be a color you do like.
I've experienced this phenomena myself many times; even on really-weird pop-art colors (interior & exterior) of the 70's & 80's. Back then I thought "how could any factory do that? " &/or 'why would anyone buy that'
Now I think 'somebody wasn't afraid to be different !", usually while smiling. Besides, changing colors can hardly increase the value. So, "keep it original" & smile too.

Re: colours / paint
thanks everyone - i was really interested in finding other opinions , i suspect the car will eventually be resprayed in the same colour it is already, i think maybe just having quality paintwork will do the trick because i wonder if my uncertainty is as much about the patchiness on mine and the badly done black bonnet. it has always been the case that i really like the dublino and also the fact that it provokes some quite negetive reactions is good fun too. ive had strangers begging or ordering me to make it red!
lancia blue looks really interesting - nearly black in some pictures , id really like to see this colour in a clear well lit photo or in the flesh. ive seen some s1 coupes in the flesh with grey colours which i really liked too. and the ollanda orange / yellow one on ebay recently was nice
thanks everyone

Re: colours / paint
Another way of looking at it:
According to some of my italian friends the upholstery is the lingerie of a car and thus has to be red. Not rosso corsa nor rosso fuoco nor rosso bordeaux nor rosso this nor ross that. Simply: ROSSO.
This leaves Lancia blue, various grey versions, celeste chiaro and white.

So, what does it mean that my white car has black upholstery rather than red? Something naughty, I hope.
Re: colours / paint
Then again, there is the very rare interior for the Fulvia Sport, in fur. Truly. I have the pamphlet. Anyone ever seen one?
Re: colours / paint
This link is a picture of my car when it was dark blue. I don't have many decent pictures I am afraid, if I can dig out some better ones I will post them

You could have it black like Bruce Dickinson (lead singer Iron Maiden) had his Fanalone painted !

Re: colours / paint
damn! i was very happy with my new saddle brown interior until the idea of lingerie was put into my head - my babe is wearing BROWN ones now , not 1st choice but wont however be splashing out on the more alluring red or black numbers , flowers and champagne (or maybe bearings and waxoyl) will have to suffice for now. it would not be a surprise if she left me one day for someone who could afford to keep her in the manner she really aspires to
