Dellorto 32 DHLB carbs.

Unread post by Benoit Montaigne »

Hello,

I have the opportunity to get a pair of Dellorto 32 DHLB carbs to replace the pair of worn Solex of my S3 Fulvia. The seller assures that they are fully compatible with the 1.3 and 1.2 fuliva engines, but before going any further I would like to get more infos on those carbs. would anybody be able to help me?

Many thanks,

Ben.

For the 1300 Fulvia's Dellorto offered the DHLB35.
The DHLB32's are for 1100 and 1200's.
They will work however on the 1300. Whether it is an improvement over the bad Solexes or not, you will have to find out

Many thanks for your answer! Another question, would it be any difficult to fit the Dellorto DHLB 35 to my Engine?

See http://www.viva-lancia.com/fulvia/qanda ... llorto.php and check if the Dellorto's have the jetting and venturi's as specified for your type of engine.

You als need the the special trumpets that go with the Dellorto's.

Their mounting bases are the same as for the Solexes and fit the carb rubber. You need a different (longer) choke cable. Some pieces of 8mm fuel hose and if you have an S2 car some of the smaller diameter fuel hose. Of course you ned the right banjo's for your enginer.

The end piece of the operating rod has to be rotated 180 degrees as the lever is on the first carb instead of the 2nd carb as with the Solexes.

It is best to mount them on the carb rubber first and check if the operating lever stays free of the rubber with the idle screw fully retracted and the bolts with which the carbs are mounted fully torqued. If not, grind some away from the rubber and the metal under it. I always grind some away from the rubber anyway as too often I found that the lever stays free when the whole thing is on the bench and suddenly interferes with the rubber after tightening the last nut when mounting them on the engine.

A pressure regulator set at 2 to 2,5 psi is strongly recommended. The Dellorto's have wonderful spring operated float needle valves which have advantages. A serious disadvantage is that float level is very sensitive to fuel pressure.
