Battery

Unread post by Haavard »

Excuse me for witing in english. I have a lybra 1.8 SW 2000, imported from germany. The battery in this car is not suitable for the extreme cold weather that we sometimes have in Norway, therefor I want to change the standard battery to a more powerful one. I have no technical knowledge at all, therefor I need to know what kind of battery that fits. I know that in Norway it is supposed to be a battery with 60-65 amph, but what about other spesifications?

Hello Haavard,

there is no problem to use a battery with more power than the original. You only should watch the dimensions, so that the new one fits in the mounting and it should have 12 V.

Hello,

I think you can measure the dimensions in the motorcompartement really simple. Normally, batterys have normed dimensions, but I'm not shure how much place there is for a bigger one. Maybe you can find a battery with the same size as your old one, but with more power.

As Lancia is not imported through official channels, there are not alot of Lancias here. To my knowledge, I think we are about 30 or 40 lancia owners (thanks to a very active private dealer who import new Lancias). There are even a few (4 I think) new Thesis here aswell. Owning a Lancia in Norway are despite the lack of official dealerships, quite problemfree. Part are very easy to get through fiat dealerships, and the privat dealer that I mentioned above have also a workshop that is quite good. I love my Lybra, I've had it for over two years, and I am dreaming of a thesis.

Ciao,
Haavard
